Catalonia is a land of rambling and ramblers. The fact is that for a long time the country’s complex land relief has invited its progressive exploration and study. From the fertility of the Ebro delta to the Pyrenean deserts of stone and snow; from the beech and holm oak woods of Montseny to the steppes of Segriá, we will find a great variety of habitats and ecosystems. Also places of great beauty, where stone, water and vegetation harmonise in unique landscapes. Walk and discover. Contemplate. Take photographs to admire and share. That’s the philosophy of this book. An invitation to go for easy rambles throughout the region, with your camera in your rucksack, to love the country and to preserve our natural heritage in the way it deserves.
Jordi Longás (1960) is a photographer, climber and teacher. He works as a lecturer at Ramon Llull University. 15 years ago he began his career as a photographer and writer. He has published more than 70 articles and hundreds of photographs in the main countryside magazines (Desnivel, Grandes Espacios, Vèrtex, Mundo de los Pirineos). He has also published 5 large-format books dedicated to the Pyrenees: Pirineos en esquís, 120 itinerarios (The Pyrenees on skis, 120 routes); Pirineos Íntimos, Pirineos en Esquís, 150 itinerarios (The Intimate Pyrenees, the Pyrenees on Skis, 150 routes); Pirineos 100 cumbres (The Pyrenees 100 summits) and Pirineus, Viatge Fotogràfic (The Pyrenees, a Photographic Journey) the latter in the Khroma collection published by Cossetània. He has been a member of the Advisory Council of Vèrtex magazine since 2004 and is a regular contributor to the Cossetània publishing house. An enthusiastic rambler who knows the geography of Catalonia well, he is excited about sharing some of the best places he has discovered in more than 30 years of activity.
